The speaker-loop isn't well explained, but I think the problem is there are the two large maintenance shafts that represent a significant amount of volume to be filled (stated as a "jet plane" and half-mile, a quick back of the envelope with a 747's dimensions puts that at over 100 million cubic feet), and (unstated, but presumably) the honeypot spell can't be split. Doesn't mean there's not going to be a book continuing to follow El. The Scholomance is a duology and can't be anything else since it's been thoroughly destroyed.
